JEdI Department Provides Jewish Educational Outlet for Central Ohio

The core focus of JEdi is to promote Jewish Education and build a community of involved Jewish learners across the age span and across the spectrum of observance. There are various programs directly linked to JEdI including congregational schools, Congregational Adult Educational Programs, Day School Education, Inclusion of Jews with Disabilities in the Jewish Community, Professional Development and Jewish Teacher Resource Center and Community Work.

Congregational Schools: In addition to providing core funding to the Congregational School, JEdI works with the leadership of the schools to assure quality educational opportunities for school age students.

Congregational Adult Educational Programs: Federation/Foundation JEdI provides funding to Congregations in order to help sustain a Jewish community of life long learners.

Day School Education: JEdI works in partnership with the two Columbus Day Schools to increase the number of children receiving day school education, to collaborate on increasing the stability of the institutions, and to increase the quality of education by assisting in training and retention of teaching staff.

Inclusion of Jews with Disabilities in the Jewish Community: The Columbus Jewish Community recognizes that inclusion of all Jews regardless of the presence of a disability is important to building a vibrant community. JEdI provides unique services to assure that Jews with disabilities participate in communal life. Assure that children with disabilities receive their Jewish education in the most appropriately integrated environment.   Provide support service for, and whenever possible, access to social and recreational community programs for Jews with disabilities.

Professional Development and Jewish Teacher Resource Center: Provide the Educational Community with opportunities and resources to build teacher capacity and educational quality.  Provide financial resources to educational staff to participate in training and educational programs in order to build capacity and quality.

Community Work: In partnership with educational institutions on collaborative endeavors and community programs.  Provide incentive grants to encourage children in the Jewish community to participate in overnight Jewish camping experiences.
